About Elizabeth Dabridgecourt
In Roger Wigston's will dated 4 Nov 1542 he refers to his daughter as Elizabeth D'abridgecourt. He also mentions her children.
John D'abridgecourt was the third son of Thomas D'abridgecourt and Alice De la Mare of Strathfieldsay, Hampshire. According to "A Whose Who of Tudor Women" he was born in 1483. His daughter Cecily was born in 1506, so that date looks likely. John married first to Maria Mynors who died in 1512. With her he had two daughters; Anne who married Philip Mansel and Cecily, who was a Lady in Waiting for Princess Mary before her marriage in 1527 to Sir Rice Mansel. John married secondly to Elizabeth Wigton and had a further three children; Christian, Thomas & William. John is said to have been of Solihull, Warwick and was buried at Knoll, Warwick after his death on the 16th July 1543. There is a monumental brass in his memory.
