Sie is the Dutch transliteration of a Chinese name used in Indonesia. The family is traditionally located on the island of Java, particuarly around the cities of Jakarta and Surabaya.
Due to longstanding anti-Chinese sentiment in Indonesian public life, many Sie family members have chosen to adopt the pseudo-Indonesian name "Siddharta" instead, which of course references the Buddha.
