About the Ogle surname

Although Ogle is an old Northumbrian family, ancient castle and village. Our grandfather originated from Brighton in Hove, our research shows he traveled up to the North East as an entertainer. The majority of our research has established that most of the Ogle family we are descended from is the South of England , mainly from around the Hampshire/ London area. We have been unable to move from a descendant Robert Hennessy More Ogle , ( Gentleman) whose brother Col. Ogle who worked for the East India Company and is recorded as having died in Dijon in France. Its a fascinating task, which covers the exploration of social status/ mobility and general family history.
