About the Knowlton surname

request from Alice Long

My son-in-law is Zachary Knowlton Shaw. His father is Michael Knowlton Shaw.

This is a north Mississippi family, but the Knowlton name has been passed along for generations.

My husband & I are about to be grandparents. We know the baby is a boy, & I would like to include Knowlton in his name.

I cannot find the link that ties the Knowlton name (and family; that name has been passed on for a reason, & people in Mississippi don’t pass on names without a family link) to the Shaws. Mind you, there are supposedly TEO separate Shaw families in Marshall County, Mississippi. But there were said to be two separate Huffacre families in Sevier County, Tennessee, in the 19th Century. Not!

This is a fine family. Since I discovered my own lineage, I am curious about the Knowlton name that has been in the Shaw family for so long. I am descended from generations of dukes & royalty from all over Europe (it’s one great family). My mother inherited that “royal family” malady, porphyria, as have I. I expect my daughter also has it, & her baby may have it.

This new life is an addition to the Knowlton line in some way. I would like to find that link.
