BEB1844 (Heron of Chipchase) starts with a Sir John Heron of Ford who was 'one of the soldiers of the Conqueror' and who married a daughter of Sir William Chipches, the Saxon lord of Chipches Castle, but that seems odd given that Ford may not have come into the family until a later generation."
