I have recently published a thoroughly researched and footnoted history of my branch of the Galloways, from their origins in Scotland to 20th Century Kentucky. "The Galloways: Pioneers, Planters & Patriots," is available through Amazon.com... This book cites mentions of the name as early as the 11th Century, albiet with varied spellings.
