Slekt, opprinnelig fra Tyskland, kan føres tilbake til Hans Busch (1690-årene–1748), som nevnes første gang i Rostock 1720. Av hans 9 barn var sønnen Andreas Jochim Busch (1722–92) skipper, bosatt i Rostock, Johan Jacob Thomas Busch (1731–93) kjøpmann i Bergen, Ernst Jürgen Busch (1737–91) skipper og kjøpmann i Bergen. Den førstnevnte hadde 11 barn, deriblant Friedrich Christoffer Heinrich Busch (1774–1826), som først var gullsmed, senere kjøpmann i Risør. Dennes sønn Peter Joachim Busch (1813–1905) var skipsfører og skipsreder samme sted og hadde 10 barn. Av etterslekten kan nevnes fetterne Christian Bernhard Busch (1882–1970) og Peter Joachim Busch (1874–1959) og dennes sønn Anthon Carl Busch (1900–84), alle høyesterettsadvokater i Oslo, samt ambassadør Rolf Trygve Busch (f. 1920) og dennes nevø, tidligere riksadvokat Tor-Aksel Busch (f. 1950).
