Granted to Arbroath by Gilchrist earl of Angus 1201x7 the church was confirmed to the uses of the abbey by William bp. of St As 1202x4, while by an agreement of 1204x11 vicars perpetual were to be presented (Arb. Lib. I nos. 1, 44, 164, 167). The parsonage thereafter remained with the abbey, while the cure was as stipulated, a vic. perpetual (Ass. 330v, 358v). Cowan 1967, 125th KRR had a detached part in Glenprosen. In 1891 it was transferred to Cortachy & Clova COC. It consisted of Balnaboth, Buckhood, Craig, Cramie & Glenlogie, Curmure, Dalairn, Easter & Wester Dalinch, Glentarrie, Inchmill, Kilbo, Kirkhaugh, Mayar (moor), Pitcarity (houses), Runtalive, Spot, Glenprosen church etc., Ballochburn (moor), Glenning, Lednathie, Wester Lednathie, Millhall, Shawfield (land). Shennan 1892, 193. Kirriemuir – Forbes, 1872, 306-7 [NOT in Reeves] – so not in Ó Muraíle 1997. Redford 1988, 159 has ‘capella Sancti Colmoci’ 1700 Retours (Forfarshire) no.557 + St Colmes Close next to Police Station. Taylor 2000 (Innes Review).
