Trove 29 Aug 1867:
GUNDAGAI.
[FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.]
AUGUST 24TH.—Police Court.—Before the
Police Magistrate.—William Foster was
brought up in custody, having been apprehended on a charge of assaulting his wife, Margaret Foster. The complainant in the course of her evidence stated that the defendant led a most irregular and dissolute life, and was continually ill-using her. She did not, however, wish to press the present charge, but prayed that the Court would make the usual order compelling the defendant to make weekly payments
towards the support of herself and family.
His worship after a few very severe and
appropriate remarks to the defendant on his
present course of life, made an order for 10s.
per week in favour of the complainant.

The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser (NSW: 1868-1931) / Fri 8 Feb 1901 / page 2 / Splints and Splices.

“An old man named William Foster aged 87 years, was found dead at his home, south Gundagai, on Tuesday night. He had been a sufferer for many years, and was partially blind. A certificate of death from natural causes having been furnished, an inquiry was dispensed with. He was a very old resident of the district. His remains were interred yesterday in the Church of England division of the South Gundagai cemetery, the Rev. A. C. Moseley officiating.”

“The late Mr. W. Foster, who died at South Gundagai on Tuesday, was absolutely the oldest resident of the district, having settled here 60 years ago.”
