About Tpr. Leonard Joseph Spurden
Son of Walter Thomas & Sarah, of Atlas Mills, Timaru, New Zealand. Labourer & Blacksmith for the N.Z.S.S. Coy at Tokomaru Bay. Enlisted to serve during World War I at Trentham on 29 December 1914. Killed in action, Gallipoli.
Oct 1915 - L J Spurden reported missing since August 27, is a son of Mr W T Spurden of Atlas Mills, Timaru. He is 27 years of age, and was born at Winchester, receiving his education at the Timaru Main School. Prior to joining the forces he was employed at Tokomaru Bay.
