About Thurfrida
She was the daughter and heiress of the Mercian Thegn Hereward, who led Anglo-Saxon resistence to William I (The Conqueror) 1071 and who apparently got back his pre-Conquest lands at Witham, Barholm, and Rippingale about the time of the Domesday Survey 1086.
