1. Thomas ADAIR was born in 1680 in County Antrim, Ireland. He died after 1755 in Laurens County, South Carolina and was buried in Duncan Creek, Laurens County, South Carolina.

He Immigrated from Ireland to Chester County, PA about 1730, with three sons. The second son, Joseph, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The third son, William, "the pioneer", was a grandfather of Gen John Adair who distinguished himself at the Battle of New Orleans and was later the 8th governor of Kentucky. The first son James Adair b. 1709, d. 1783, wrote the authoritative HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN INDIANS, published in London in 1775. James had two sons, John and Edward. The children of Edward and some of the children of John were parents of the Adairs of the Cherokee Nation (according to the HISTORY OF THE CHEROKEES by Emmett Starr). Will Rogers was a descendant of this branch. John Adair was b. about 1753, d. 1815. His first five children were by a Cherokee woman, Nancy Foster. After her death, he married a white woman, Jean Faires (Faris), and had eleven more children, one of the youngest being George Washington Adair b. about 1812, married a South Carolina girl and had four sons - Andrew Pickens, Frank, Lafayette and Joseph. The family moved to Cass County, Georgia when his first wife died and he married Nancy McDonald. They had one daughter - Ellen, who married a Mr. Beebe and had two sons, Joe and Howard. George Washington's first son, Andrew Pickens b. 1832, d. 1911, married Mary Caroline Baker b. 1832. After they married, they moved to St Clair County, Alabama. Andrew fought in the Civil War, was injured in the Battle of Gettysburg and was captured. Andrew and Mary Caroline died in San Bernardino California. They had four sons and a daughter - James Franklin, Watie McIntosh, Charles Lafayette, Mary and Noah.
Thomas married Margaret Agnew about 1708 in Ireland. They had the following children:
