About Theodor Gotthilf Heinrich Eder
Immigration: A German carpenter who worked his passage to Canterbury on the "Egmont" - Dec 23 1856 Lyttleton, NZ
Migs Elder . Heinrich probably didn’t work his passage on the Egmont, he probably put his age up – so it appeared he done his national military service instead of leaving to avoid it – paid, and came under an assumed name, one of a large group of German immigrants on the voyage, extensively researched by a local German Genie group. But until a Crew List is found and transcribed, we can’t rule out that he did work his passage.
