About Sir William Mallory, Kt.
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GEN-MEDIEVAL/2007-08/... I understood that the William Mallory who married Jane de Plumpton was not the Sir William Mallory, son of Antekil, though the two Williams were coeval. The former was of Hutton Conyers near Ripon (Yorkshire) and was the son of William Mallory and Catherine Nunewich; the latter was of Papworth Anneys [Papworth St. Agnes] (Cambridgeshire).
-------------------------------
Worse still, there seem to have been three Sir William Mallorys.
-------------------------------
From 1066 to approximately 1600, "William" was the most common name given to English boys. (It's still in the top 10 to this day.) This makes it a genealogical nightmare on par with "John".
-------------------------------
Birth dates found for him are all over the lot, from c. 1350 (probably confusing him with his father, born c.1347) to 1367 to an assortment in the 1370s to 1385 (which is getting uncomfortably late). A birth date in the range 1367-1370, matching him to his wife, would not be unreasonable.
