William Borthwick of that Ilk died before 7 March 1449-50, The Scots Peerage II: 96 the date upon which his daughter Jonet Borthwick and her husband, James Douglas, lord of Dalkeith, had a charter of confirmation for the barony of Mortoun in Dumfriesshire. RMS: 325
