Sir Thomas Foster, Knight's tomb

Thomas was previously a Forster, but he changed his name when he married a distant cousin, Susanna Forster. He was a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

Sir Thomas Forster, Knight of Hunsdon, Herfordshire, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, and Susan, his wife.

The Forsters were a branch of the ancient family of Etherstone, (northern England) Durham-Northumberland. Sir Thomas Forster and his brother Robert Forster, were the grandsons of Alexander Comyns (1242-1289), Earl of Buchan.

Alexander Comyns was descended from Roger de Quincy, 2nd Earl of Winchester (d. 1264), and from Kind David I of Scotland (who reigned from 1124 until his death in 1153).

Kind David's father was King Malcolm III (Malcolm Camore) of Scotland (who reigned from 1057 until his death in 1093). In 1057, King Malcolm III married [his second wife], Margaret. Margaret was the sister of Edgar Atheling, the daughter of Edward "the outlaw," and granddaughter of Edmund "Ironsides" Saxon, King of England (who had a short but vigorous reign from April 1016 to November 1016).

King Duncan I (who reigned from 1034 until his death in 1040), father of MalcomIII, was murdered by Macbeth. The legend of his life formed the basis of Shakespeare's "Macbeth." Macbeth established himself on the throne of Scotland after killing King Duncan I in a battle near Elgin, and not as Shakespeare has it by murdering him in his bed.

The Forster royal line appears to go back without a break to Fergus II, King of Scotland in A.D. 404.
