“…Henry Lechford, great-grandson of a Thomas Lechford who lived in the reign of Edward IV. (1461-1482), bought the manors of Shellwood and Charlwood, with other estates. This Henry dying Sept. 27, 1567, left a son, Richard, born in 1547, who was knighted. Sir Richard Lechford was twice married: first, to Ann, daughter of George Lusher, by whom he had two sons, John and Thomas; and, secondly, to Eleanor, daughter of William Morgan, of Chilworth, Esq.” [1]


Marriage 1 Anne Lusher b: ABT 1550 in England

Only daughter of George Lussher of Oxenford (a hamlet in Surrey) Anne married Richard Lechford most probably in 1559 and had at least seven children. The parish register of St Bartholomew in Leigh, Surrey records "The xvj of maij was Buried Mistres Lechford the wyff of Ric Lechford Esquyer 1579"
