About Sir John Waller, Kt.
From whom sprang the Waller's of Beaconsfield, most, if not all, of the Waller's in Virginia and Tennessee, and Edmund Waller, Poet Laureate of England. John was settled in Leigh, County Kent, when he purchased Beaconsfield Castle in Buckinghamshire, somewhere around 1450, and moved his family there to become the first of the Bucks Waller's and to begin a 200 year tenure for the Waller Family. Beaconsfield is located about 25 miles northeast of London on the main road to Oxford. He married Elizabeth Farinfold, daughter of William of Leigh, Kent.
Notes for Sir William Waller: Sir William Waller, Baron High Sheriff; born about 1420, oldest son and heir, who inherited Groombridge Castle and the title of Baronet, to become a part of a line of Baronets which was still going in 1975 in England. Sir William Waller married Anne Falemer.
By his wife Silvia, whose maiden name was Gulby, Waller had issue two sons—Richard and John—and a daughter Alice, who married Sir John Guildford. The second son, John (d. 1517), was father of John (his second son), who was the ancestor of Edmund Waller the poet; and he was also grandfather of Sir Walter Waller, whose eldest son, George, married Mary Hardress, and was father of Sir Hardress Waller [q. v.]; Sir Walter's second son, Sir Thomas, was father of Sir William Waller [q. v.]
