Adam's father inherited Chingle Hall in Goosnargh, Lancashire from Adam's grandmother, Joan Banastre (Singleton)who received the Manor of Chingle Hall as a dower from her father, Alan Singleton after her husband, Thomas Banastre died.
Adam Banastre, later Sir Adam Banastre, was said to be sixteen years of age when his father, Sir William Banastre died in or before 1323. As Adam, son of Sir William Banastre, in 1344, he granted William de Stirzaker a messuage and lands in the High moor with appurtenances in Bretherton for the celebration of devine service in a certain chapel then newly built in Bretherton for the welfare of the souls of the grantor, his wife, his parents (William and Philippa)m &c. [Dods. MSS. cxlix, fol. 45b]. He married Pernell, who married as her second husband, John Trussell of Cublesden.
