About Sarah Lamere
Sadie was a Winnebago woman of the Nebraska tribe
By the treaty of 1846 with the United States, the Ho-Chunk Nation was assigned to a vast wilderness area in central Minnesota Territory, the Long Prairie Reservation.
More than twenty years later, the Ho-Chunk were forced to move from that area to the Winnebago Reservation, established by treaty on 8 March 1865. It is further west, in Thurston and Dixon counties, Nebraska, and Woodbury County, Iowa.
Today, the Ho-Chunk Nation, also known as the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, is an American Indian tribe whose territory includes parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. The tribe's history stretches back more than 10,000 years, and evidence of its presence is found throughout the Great Lakes region. Tribe members often identify as Hochungra.

Biography:
Sarah Lamere (La Mere) was born in 1890 (also shown March 1889 and September 1891) to father Joseph Alexander La Mere and mother Florence La Mere (Monegar), probably on the Winnebago Reservation of the Nebraska tribe. She was one of 10 siblings and the only one not to leave home. She is shown at home in 1921 living with both parents.
Sarah is shown in a census in 1900 Genoa Township Genoa Village, ED 146, Nance, Nebraska, United States, and listed as 10 years old, although she is NOT identified in digital records of the Indian Industrial School in Genoa, Nebraska.
According to the book Vanished in Hiawatha, author Carla Joinson (who calls her Sadie which is an English diminutive of the name Sarah by which she is known in ALL census reports. Sadie is used in the Canton documents.), advises that she was committed to the Canton Asylum on June 7, 1922, with no diagnosis, and died there on January 31, 1926, from status epilepticus (Status epilepticus (SE) is a medical emergency that involves prolonged seizures or multiple seizures without regaining consciousness in between.).
Sarah was NOT buried in the Hiawatha cemetery at Canton which indicates that her remains were likely returned to the Winnebago Agency for burial.
Her profile is part of the https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Canton_Asylum.
Research Notes:
-Sarah was NOT in the 1926 female census of Canton Asylum
