State of Texas, County of Freestone } Know all men by these presents that I, Jonathan T. Holloway of the State of Arkansas and County of Grant, one of the heirs of the Estate of Samuel Holloway who was slain at the "Alimo", farmer, in consideration of three hundred and thirty three - $333.33 1/3 - dollars thirty three and one third cents to me paid by William Holloway of the State of Texas and County of Freestone, farmer (the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledged) do hereby convey, remise, release and forever quit claim unto the said William Holloway his heirs and assigns , all my right and title to the estate of the said Samuel Holloway deceased with all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to have and to hold the above released premises to the said William Holloway his heirs and assigns to his and their use and behalf forever. And I the said Johnathan T. Holloway for myself , my heirs executors and administrators do covenant with the said William Holloway his heirs and assigns, that the premises are free from all encumbrances made by or suffered by me, and he I will and my heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and defend the same to the said William Holloway his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demand of all persons made by , through or under
me but against none other

1 June 1874, Elizabeth (Holloway) Appling quit-claimed to E. T. Cearley and Wm R. Goodman her inheritance in the land patented by the estate of her brother, Samuel Holloway.
State of Arkansas, County of Grant } Know all men men [sic] by these presents that I , Elizabeth Appling of the State and County aforesaid in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and thirty three dollars and thirty three and one - third cents to me in hand paid by Elisha T. Cearley and William R. Goodman of the State of Arkansas and County of Grant , the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge have bargained, sold and quit - claim and by these presents do bargain, sell and quit - claim unto the said E. T . Cearley and Wm R. Goodman and to their heirs and assigns forever, all my right title, interest, estate, claim and demand, both at law and in equity and as well in possession as in expectancy of in and to all that certain tract or parcel of land situated in the State of Texas belonging to the Estate of Samuel Holloway deceased, donated to the said Samuel Holloway for his services in the Texas War with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and seventy-four

State of Texas, County of Limestone } Know all men by these presents that I, William R. Goodman of the State of Arkansas, Grant County for and in consideration of one hundred Gold dollars to me in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and for a note for Gold dollars bearing even date with this instrument due 1st day of March next signed by, William Holloway drawing with interest at ten per cent per annum from date for said consideration as aforesaid I hereby sell , transfer and convey unto said Wm Holloway the entire undivided
interest of Elizabeth Holloway alias Elizabeth Appling in the land interest of Samuel Holloway deceased also her entire interest in all land certificates as my as in all lands that she is entitled to as an heir of said Samuel Holloway deceased, I am the legal owner of said lands and have a right to convey the same my title thereto being endorsed - a deed signed by Elizabeth Appling dated June 1st 1874 to use the said Goodman and Elisha T Cearley, and said Cearleys deed to me dated 24th day of July 1874 . Hereby conveying to said William Holloway and binding myself to warrant and defend the title of the same free from the claims of all persons claiming the same by through or under me said Lands hereby conveyed are situated in the State of Texas , and the Land certificates issued by proper authorities of said State , Witness my hand using scroll for seal this August 26th 1874 .

The State of Mississippi, County of Calhoun } We the undersigned hereby swear that Samuel Holloway deceased formerly of Tuscaloosa County, State of Alabama and subsequently of the State of Texas where according to the understanding and belief of affiants he the said Samuel Holloway was Killed at the Battle of the Alamo fought during the war between Texas and Mexico and Called the war of Texas Independence died unmarried and without issue, that he survived his parents and that he left the following named persons his only heirs the same being his full Brothers and Sisters , to wit : Joseph Holloway , William Holloway , J. T. Holloway , Elizabeth Appling maiden name Elizabeth Holloway James Holloway and John Holloway .

The State of Texas, Hill County } Before the undersigned on this day personally appeared Joseph Holloway a citizen of Hill County, said State to whose credibility witness is here borne, and being by me sworn deposes and says : That he is a brother and one of the heirs of Samuel Holloway to whom in as patented by the State of Texas , a certain tract of 5,645,000 square varas of land situated in said County and State about 13 mi . S. E. from Hillsboro, that said Samuel Holloway was killed at the battle of the Alamo in the War between the Republic of Texas and Mexico in the year 1836 ; that said Samuel Holloway was never married, that he survived his parents and that left sole heirs and legal representatives the following named persons his brothers & sisters: (1) This affiant (2) William Holloway (3) J.T. Holloway (4) Elizabeth Appline (nee Holloway) (5) James Holloway, (6) John Holloway; that the said James Holloway was married but had no issue, is now dead and survived his wife and that he died same 50 years or more age of Yellow Fever at Mobile, Alabama ; that the said John Holloway, died unmarried on or about the year 1843 that the said James & John left as their sole heirs and legal representatives this affiant, and the said William and J. T. Holloway and Eliza Appling

The State of Texas, Hill County } Whereas on the 4th day of November A. D. 1886 Joseph Holloway, then of Hill County now of Freestone County said State, did execute and deliver M. A. Harwell of Hill County , Texas , his certain deed wherein he conveyed to said Harwell forty eight (48) acres of land in Hill County Texas, out of the Samuel Holloway original survey said 45 acres more particularly described in said day which is recorded in deed records of Hill County , Texas to which record reference is here made ; and whereas in said deed the vendors lien was retained to secure the payment of two certain promissory notes executed & delivered by said
Harwell to said J. Holloway or order in part payment for said land each dated with said deed and payable respectively on November 4th 1887 and 1888 each for the sum of $120.00 & each retaining the vendors lien on the land conveyed ; and whereas , both of said notes have been paid and were at date of their payment the property of said Joseph Holloway ; Now , therefore, Know all men by these presents That I, Joseph Holloway, payee & owner of said notes acting herein by my agent and attorney in fact , G. T . Reaves in consideration of the premises & of the full payment of said notes have released and cancelled and do here release & relinquish unto the said M. A. Harwell his heirs and assigns , the vendors lien heretofore existing upon said land

The State of Texas, Hill County } On this day personally appeared before me the undersigned authority, Joseph Holloway a citizen of Freestone County, State of Texas, to me known and to whose credibility I certify who being by me duly sworn states on his oath : I knew Samuel Holloway to whose heirs was patented a survey of 6,645,000 square varas of land situated in Hill County Texas, said Samuel Holloway was my brother, He was a soldier in the war between Texas and Mexico called the war of Texas Independence, and was killed at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 . He survived both of his parents and left surviving him five brothers and one sister of the whole blood and two sisters and four brothers of the half blood . The names of the former are as follows : William, Jonathan T., James, John, Elizabeth and Joseph this affiant, James Holloway was married but had no children, He died some three years after Samuel Holloway of Yellow fever, at Mobile Alabama. He survived his wife. John Holloway died unmarried about the year 1843, both James and John died intestate. William Holloway was alive when I last heard of him, about two months ago. Jonathan T Holloway died about four years ago, Elizabeth (who married one Appling) died in March 1892 . Her husband died more than twenty (20) years ago and she never remarried. The half brothers & half sisters of Samuel Holloway are named as follows: Unity and Nancy (who married brothers Brown by name), Amos, Ezra, H. H. and Minter Holloway. Unity Brown's husband died about 1877 and she never remarried. Nancy Brown's husband died about 1874 and she never remarried . Information received by me direct from my half brother and half sisters some three months ago & brought by
a party who knows them all was to the effect that they were all alive at that time & signed Joseph Holloway

The State of Texas, County of Erath } Know all men by these Presents That I, T. J. Holloway of the County of McLennan in the State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Sixteen Hundred Dollars to me paid and secured to be paid by L. D. Holloway as follows the sum of Four Hundred Dollars Cash in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and the further sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars evidenced by three promissory notes of even date with this conveyance for four Hundred Dollars each, executed by the said L. D. Holloway and
payable to the order of T. J. Holloway as follows: 1st note payable on or before Dec 15 1893 2nd note payable on or before June 15 1894 3rd note payable on or before Dec 15 1894 said notes bearing 10% interest per annum from date . Have granted sold and conveyed and by these presents do Grant Sell and convey unto the said L. D. Holloway of the County of Erath and State of Texas all that certain tract or parcel of land situated about Eleven miles S E from the Town of Hillsboro in Hill County Texas same being a part of a survey of land in the name of Samuel Holloway and described by metes and bounds as follows : Beginning at the S E corner of said Samuel Holloway Survey for the S E corner of this Thence S 60 W with South line of said survey 756 varas for the two corner of this Thence N 30 W 756 varas to the NW corner of this Thence N 60 E 756 varas to a point in the East line of said Samuel Holloway survey for the NE corner of this Thence S 30 E 756 varas to the place of beginning containing one Hundred acres more or less. This conveyance is made by me by the authority vested in me by a power of Attorney given me by Wm Holloway on the 8th day of June 1892 empowering me to sell any part or all of the Samuel Holloway Survey aforesaid as well as to convey the said land in my
own name my interest in said survey being allotted to me out of the southern part of said survey but has never been Surveyed. To Have and to Hold the above described premises together with all and singular the rights and appurtenances rest thereto in any wise belonging unto the said L. D. Holloway his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself heirs executors and administrators to Warrant and Forever Defend all and singular the said premises unto the said L. D. Holloway his heirs and assigns against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same of any part thereof. But it is expressly agreed and stipulated that the Vendors Lien is retained against the above described property premises and improvements until the above described notes and all interest thereon are fully paid according to their face and tenor

Henry survey on the East by the Eldrige survey in part said Holloway survey contains 1000 acres more or less of land , This Power of Attorney is intended to invest in said T. J. Holloway the power to sell and convey all the land of said Holloway survey not previously conveyed by me and said T. J. Alamo Defender. He came to Texas by way of Tennessee and New Orleans as a member of Captain Thomas H. Breece's company of New Orleans Greys. He took part in the siege of Bexar, remained in Bexar as a member of Captain William Blazeby's infantry company and died in the battle of the Alamo.
