Richard was also called Ricardus de Morville.
He was Constable of Scotland, succeeding his father circa 1162.
He married Avice de Lancaster, daughter of Willelm filius Gilberti, Baron Kendal of Workington and Gundred de Warenne, at Kirkoswald, Cumberland, England.
Richard was a brother of Hugh de Moreville, who helped murder Thomas Becket on 29 December 1170.
Richard lost land held of the honour of Huntingdon in 1173.
