Biography

Richard Widdicombe [Convict "Charlotte" 1788] was born in 1764 in Buckfastleigh, Devon, England and was baptized on June 25, 1764 there. His parents were William WIDDICOMBE and Jane.

Richard was convicted of theft (with Henry HUMPHREYS) and sentenced to 7 years transportation.

He arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Charlotte"

Richard was sent to Norfolk Island on "HM Supply" on 6/3/1788

Richard left the colony in 1793 bound for India

Richard married Margaret MUGFORD. Together they had the following children:

• 1806 Ann
• 1809 William
• 1812 Thomas He died in 1841 in Newton Abbot, Devon, England.
