About Richard Talbot, II
The History of the County of Dublin by John D'Alton (Dublin, 1838, pp. 191-2):
In 1174 Richard de Talbot, having accompanied Henry the Second to Ireland, obtained a grant of Malahide, part of which, Malahide beg, he soon afterwards leased to the monks of Mary's Abbey, and his son Reginald confirmed the demise.
In 1190 Malahide is mentioned as a chapelry dependant on Swords. See "Coolock."
In 1286 Richard de Talbot, grandson of the aforesaid Richard, having succeeded to this manor on the death of his father Adam, granted to King Edward all lordships, escheats, reliefs, marriages, &c. happening therein, and settled the said manor thereby on his son Milo de Talbot. In 1300 the said Richard contributed twenty shillings as his subsidy for Malahide towards the expenses of the Scottish war. Soon after which occur records of stubborn lawsuits between his grandson and another Richard Talbot, of Feltrim and Castletown-Dalkey, for the manor of Malahide, in which the former was, after a due course of litigation, ruinously Successful.. This Richard of Malahide was, in 1315, Sheriff of Dublin, he subsequently signalized himself in the wars against Edward Bruce, but was, with other noblemen and gentlemen, treacherously murdered at Ballybragan, in the County of Louth, in 1329. At the time of this event, Thomas, the son and heir of said Richard, was a minor, and accordingly the king in that year made a grant of the wardship of his estates during the minority, at a certain nominal rent to one of the minions of the day.*

Notes
FMG doesn't have Richard connected to parents, but states ... "His possible link with the Lacy family, noted below, suggests that Richard [III] Talbot may have been a descendant of Geoffrey [I] Talbot (see above), whose probable connections with Lacy are discussed above."
The English ancestry of Peter Talbot of Dorchester, Mass., has Richard as the son of Hugh, son of Richard.

1st Lord Talbot of Malahide before 1170 - 1193 Succeeded by Sir Reginald Talbot
Biography
The first lord Richard Talbot came to Malahide in 1170, in the reign of Henry II. Talbot’s lordship of Malahide was confirmed by the King's son, Prince John, later to become King of England. Also confirmed on Richard was the Advowson for the Church of Malahide and when he died in 1193, he presented his brother, Walter Talbot with that benefice.[1]
Research Note
The author of Talbot Documents states:
According to the pedigree of the family, drawn up with every appearance of accuracy by Sir William Betham, Richard Talbot, the second son of Richard Talbot, Lord of Eccleswell and Linton, in Herefordshire, who was living in 1153, having accompanied King Henry II to Ireland, obtained from that monarch the lordship of Malahide, being part of the two cantreds of Leinster, in the neighbourhood of Dublin, which King Henry had reserved, when he granted the rest of the province to Richard Earl of Strongbow, to be held as a noble fief of the crown of England.
It is at all events certain, as appears from the chartulary or register of Mary's Abbey, now in the British Museum, that this Richard Talbot granted to St Mary's Abbey in Dublin certain lands called Venenbristen, which lie between Croscurry and the lands of Hamon Mac Kirkyl, in pure and perpetual alms, that the monks there might pray for the health of his soul and that of his brother Roger, and their ancestors; and that he also leased certain lands in Malahide and Portmarnoc to the monks of the same abbey.
From this Richard Talbot the present Lord Talbot de Malahide descends in the 20th generation, and in the 24th from Richard Talbot, a Norman baron who held Hereford Castle in the time of the Conqueror. The noble Earls of Shrewsbury and Talbot are of the same stock, but descend from Gilbert, the elder brother of Richard, who was Lord of Eccleswell and Linton, and was living in 1190.
The original death date was 1262 with a birth around 1150 making him 112 at death. Very unlikely. I've replaced the death date with that given in Talbot Documents .
Sir Richard de Talbot, a young Norman knight from Shrewsbury was with King Henry ll's expedition to Ireland in 1174, following the success of Richard de Clare (Strongbow). He was rewarded with a grant of the "lands and harbour of Malahide" about 1185. [2] He was also granted Castletown-Dalkey (now Rochestown)[3]
He was the first Lord Talbot of Malahide
