From the "Bridger Family Association on Ancestral Progress' by Betty Cullen: Rychard and Margery Elliott Bridger sent their son, Lawrence to Magdalen College, Oxford, to study Theology in preparation for a lifetime in service to God and Crown.


Lawrence Bridger was sent by his parents to the Magdalen College, Oxford to study theology in preparation for a lifetime of service to God and Crown. He was elected a Fellow in 1568. He received his BA in 1570 and his Masters Degree in 1577. In 1577, Queen Elizabeth I invested him in a ceremony at Windsor Castle. In 1586, we was installed as Prebender of the 3rd stall at Gloucester Cathedral. He served as Rector at St John the Evangelist Church at Slimbridge for 55 years.

His manor home was Gossington Hall.

Lawrence married twice but died in 1630 a widower. In his will he makes bequests to nine children: Samuel, Lawrence, Joseph, Benjamin, Arthur, Elizabeth, Faith, Mary and Anne. Samuel was the eldest son by his first wife and Joseph was the eldest son by his second wife. Information from Find a Grave # 82382236
