Ralph I de LIMESI 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 was born 1050 in Limesy, Seine-Maritime, France. He died 1093 in Cavendish, Suffolk, England.

He had the following children:

M i Ralph II de LIMESI was born 1080 and died 1129.

F ii Maud de LIMESI was born 1082 and died 1138.
"Radulfus or Ralph de Limesi, son of Hugo de Limesi; b about 1040 in Normandy; he was also called Radulfus de Linesi in 1086 (Duchesne's Historiae Anglicanae p 378). He came with the Conqueror into England and fought at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; 15 Ed I. Com' Hertford: Hugo (de Oddingeseles) venit & dicit qd quidam Radus de Limsy antecessor suus venit cum Conquestore Angl & maniu illud tenuit . . . Piriton ( Placita de Quo Warranto, Ed I, II, III p 289). He is probably the Radulfo de Limeseio, a witness to a charter [by the Conqueror], or W[illiam] II who reigned 1087-1100, in favor of the Prior and Convent of St. Swithun's, Winchester, co Hants, who was followed by a Radulfo de Limesi, a witness to a charter by Henry I, who reigned 1100-1135, in favor of St. Swithun's, Winchester (Charter Rolls, III:345-47); these two Ralphs de Limesi might be the same person, but it is more probable that they are father and son. During the rule of Paul, who was abbot of St. Albans Abbey from 1077-1093, Radulfus de Limesi gave to the Abbey the church of Hertford which he had recently built (Dugd Monast, Charter I). Whether he m 1st or 2d Maria daughter of William FitzOsborn, Earl of Hereford, and sister of Roger, Earl of Hereford, or Cristina*, sister of Prince Edgar Atheling, cannot be exactly determined. The probabilities are that he married both, Maria being his first wife." Lindeseie/Limesi Families, 1:191.

  • It is known that Christina, sister to Edgar and Margaret took up the veil at a young age and did not marry.
