About Pvt. Albert J. Fambrough, CSA
Albert J. Fambrough was the son of John S. Fambrough and wife Jullita "Julia" Landrum. He was born in Greene County, Georgia in 1842 and died in Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia on April 5, 1910. He was a veteran of the Civil War. No mention found yet of a wife, but he had a daughter named Maude.
Albert enlisted in Company A, 9th Battalion, Georgia Artillery on February 27, 1862. His father and his brother Marius joined the same at the same time. Albert survived, but father and brother were both captured at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee and died at Camp Douglas in Illinois.
His Obituary:
Mr. A. J. Fambrough, an old Confederate veteran and respected citizen of this neighborhood died last Tuesday, and was buried in the local cemetery on Wednesday. Mr. Fambrough was 68 years old. He leaves a daughter, Miss Maud Fambrough, one brother and a long number of friends to mourn his death. Our sympathy goes out to those in bereavement."
