About Pte. Louis Victor Laugesen
Louis Victor Laugesen was born at Oxford, Canterbury in New Zealand's South Island on 28 July 1896. His parents were Waldemar Henry Laugesen and Annie Maria Laugesen (nee Tiegs) who had married at Oxford on 13 September 1889. Louis joined the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 26282). He was killed in action in Belgium on 15 June 1917 and is remembered there on the Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial (bio by Debbie McCauley, 15 January 2022).
