About Olga Schweitzer
Olga was a sensitive artist soul, a soprano singer by profession. She is registered with her stage name Olga Sarny in the “Deutsches Bühnenjahrbuch” (German Theater Yearbooks) in the years 1916-1920.
Olga was a close friend of my father David Friedmann (1893-1980). In his memoirs he wrote (translated from German): "Olga was slandered as a spy by the NSDAP and taken to the Barnimstrasse women’s prison. Grief-stricken because of the great injustice of her imprisonment, she hanged herself after three-quarters of a year."
"The Nazi's nearly tortured her to death."
"I had Olga buried with all due honors. One of my friends Spiegel-Wolf, as well as the rabbi, gave the commemorative speech. The choir sang a classic melody, friends, relatives, and acquaintances attended her funeral and then the coffin was let down. We threw some earth on the coffin. We buried a truly noble person, one more victim of the detested party (NSDAP)."
