Mary (Brown) Pedrick

Biography

John Pedrick Jr c 1657 – 1706 eldest son of John Pederick and Miriam[1][2][3][4] married Mary Brown(e) on 10 Jan 1688 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. ("John, and Mary Browne, Jan. 10, 1688-9" p 324). [5] She was the daughter of William Brown of Marblehead and Mary Chinn.[6]

Children

John Pedrick and Mary Brown have nine children with baptisms recorded in Marblehead Vital Records. Marriages are recorded for all the children with the exception of Samuel and William who died young.

1. John Pederick bp. 15 Dec 1689 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (John, s. John, bp. Dec. 15, 1689. CR1 p 386) [7] He died about 1717 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts based on the birth of his last child and the date his widow remarried. He married Miriam Hendley 2 Oct 1712 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (John, and Miream Hendly, Oct. 2, 17 12. p 325).[5] After John died in 1717 his wife Miriam who was still pregnant with their third child married to John Hill in 1719,[5] and John and Miriam Hill had a daughter Elizabeth.
2. William Pederick bp. 16 Aug 1691 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (William, s. John, bp. Aug. 16, 1691. CR1 p 387)[7] He died young before 1709 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts.[8]
3. Miriam Pederick bp. 12 Feb 1692 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, (Miriam, d. John, bp. Feb. 12, 1692-3. CR1 p 386)[7] married John Homan 17 Nov 1715 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Miriam, and John Homan, Nov. 17, 1715 p 234)[5]
4. Benjamin Pederick bp. 10 mar 1694 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (enjamin, s. John, bp. Mar. 10, 1694-5. CR1 p 386) [7] He was a fisherman and died in 1728.[9] He married Sarah Hendley 6 Jun 1719 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Benja[min], and Sara Hendly, June 6, 1719 p 324)[5]
5. Mary Pederick bp. 10 Oct 1697 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, (Mary, d. John, bp. Oct. 10, 1697. CR1 p 386)[7] married Samuel Hendley 31 Oct 1717 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Mary, and Sam[ue]ll Hendly, Oct. 31, 1 717. p 324)[5]
6. Richard Pederick bp. 13 Jul 1701 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, (Richard, s. John, bp. July 13, 1701. CR1 p 387)[7] married Jean Merrett 16 Nov 1721 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Richard, and Jean Merrett, Nov. 16, 1721. p 324)[5]
7. Joseph Pederick bp. 26 Sep 1703 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, (Joseph, s. John and Mary, bp. Sept. 26, 1703. CR1 p 386)[7] married Sarah Martin 9 May 1725 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Joseph, and Sarah Martin, May 9, 1725. c.r.3 p 326)[5] He died on 11 Jan 1770 aged 66 years.[10]
8. Samuel Pederick bp. 16 Dec 1705 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (Samuel, s. John, bp. Dec. 16, 1705. CR1 p 387)[7] He was a goldsmith and died in 1772.[11] He married Elizabeth (Unknown). His marriage is not recorded but they did have four recorded children in Marblehead between 1731 and 38.
9. William Pederick bp. 24 Apr 1709 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, (William, s. John, bp. Apr. 24, 1709. CR1 p 387)[7] married Jane Chapman 28 Dec 1729 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts. (William, and Jane Chapman, Dec. 28, 1729. c.r.3. p 327)[5]

Her Parents

There were three William Browns living close to each other in Salem, Gloucester and Marblehead and they and their children are often confused. Mary Brown the daughter of William Brown of Gloucester married to William Haskell. Mary Brown the daughter of William Brown of Marblehead married to John Pedrick II.

William Brown, was a fisherman, and lived in Marblehead as early as 1664. He married Mary (Chinn) before 1664; and died in the winter of 1683-4, his will, dated Nov. 7, 1683, being proved March 4, 1683- 4. His estate was appraised at £ 221, is. His mother was then deceased; and his wife probably survived him, and married, secondly, Richard Gross March 20, 1684.[6]

1. Elizabeth, m. Thomas Severy Nov.1, 1683; he was a fisherman ; and they lived in Marblehead in 1700.[6]
2. Mary, m. John Pederick Jan. 10, 1688-9; and was his wife in 1705[6]

4. Deliverance, m. John Waldron of Marblehead, anchorsmith, Nov. 22, 1694; and was his wife in 1705. [6]

6. John; mariner; lived in Marblehead; d. childless, and probably unmarried, before Aug. 4, 1704, when administration was granted upon his estate.[6]

This was a part of the lot of Christopher Lattimer, and was owned in 1672 by John Allen, who had probably purchased it of Mr. Lattimer. Mr. Allen sold it to Mr. William Browne, and Mr. Browne to John Pedrick in 1678. Someone built this house before Oct 5, 1683, when Mr. Petherick, for fifty pounds, conveyed it with the lot to John Searl of Marblehead. He died about 1700, and his heirs conveyed the house and land to Samuel Stacey of Marblehead, shoreman, May 4, 1719,* Mr. Stacey owned the estate in 1732). link
• Essex Registry of Deeds, book 5, leaf 38 (John Pedrick Lot. That part of this lot which lies easterly of the dashes was owned in 1672 by John Allen, who had probably purchased it of Mr. Lattimer. Mr. Allen sold it to Mr. William Brown, and Mr. Brown to John Pedrick in 1678. The remainder of the lot was conveyed by Mr. Lattimer, who was then called a vintner, to Mr. Petherick Dec. 20, 1678.† Mr. Pedrick owned the entire lot in 1700). link
• Essex Registry of Deeds, book 7, leaf 76 and Marblehead town records.(Estate of Samuel Waldron House. The northeastern part of this lot, within the dashes, was granted and laid out by the selectmen of Marblehead to James Stilson of Marblehead, cordwainer, Feb. 11, 1682-3 * and on the same day that part lying south of the dashes was laid out by the selectmen to John Palmer.* Mr. Stilson built a house and shop upon his part of the lot; and, for forty pounds, conveyed the estate to Samuel Waldron of Marblehead, anchorsmith, Feb. 26, 1685-6.† Feb. 5, 1689-90, the trustees for the commoners of Marblehead conveyed to Mr., Waldron land on the western side of his lot westerly of the dashes, one-half of a rod wide and two rods and six feet in length.* Mr. Waldron died possessed of the lot Dec. 8, 1691, at the age of thirty-four. The buildings and land were then appraised at forty-six pounds. The real estate was devised by Mr. Waldron's will to his wife Miriam and her child, which she was then carrying. If she died without children, then it was to go to his brothers and sisters, Rebecca Stevens, John Waldron, Joseph Waldron, Thomas Waldron, Sarah Waldron and Joanna Waldron. The widow, Miriam Waldron, married, second, Benjamin Henley April 12, 1694; and he probably died about 1702. She married, third, Abraham. Lashere Sept. 29, 1704. How much longer the house stood is not known. The southern portion of the lot had come into the possession of Samuel Waldron apparently some time before his death, and was afterwards identified with that estate). link
