She came over to Canada as a “Fille du Roi” (King’s Daughter), sponsored by Louis XIV), landing on Oct. 2, 1665 at Quebec City on the ship, “Le Vaisseau de Normandie”

Notes for Marie-Anne Guedon, King's Daughter: "King's Daughters", page 284, Marie-Anne Guédon was born about 1641 in Magny (near Pontoise, archdiocese of Rouen), Normandie, the daughter of Thomas Guédon and Isabelle De Morin. She left for Canada in 1665 at about age 24, bringing with her goods worth an estimated 200 livres for her dowry. In the USA this would be worth about $ 2,850 in the year 2000. On 26 October 1665, notary Latouche drew up a marriage contract between Marie-Anne and Gabriel Benoit dit Laforest at Champlain. Marie-Anne could not sign it, but her husband could. Gabriel Benoit dit Laforest died 27 October 1686 and was buried the next day at Trois Rivières. On 07 February 1695, notary Ameau drew up a marriage contract between Marie-Anne and Mann Marais dit Labarre, who signed it. Marin was previously (1672) married to Fille du Roi Marie Deschamps (3), with whom he had two children. Marin and Marie-Anne settled at Louiseville (Rivière-du-Loup), but had no children together. Marin Marais dit Labarre died 04 March 1732. Marie-Anne Guédon died only a few weeks later, on 22 March 1732 at Boucherville.

King's Daughter, born about 1639, from Normandie, arrived in 1665 on the ship "Le St J-Baptiste de Dieppe" with assets valued at 200 Livres. She got married with Gabriel Benoît-Laforest (marriage contract with notary Tousche on October 26, 1665, Champlain, Qc); they settled in Champlain and had 6 children. She remarried with Marin Marais-Labarre (marriage contract with notary Ameau on February 7, 1695, Trois-Rivieres, Qc); they settled in Rivière-du- Loup. She died on March 22, 1732, Yamachiche.
