About Margaret Woddrope
MARGARET WODDROPE
Bogus Genealogy
At least twenty-two pedigrees published by MyHeritage have falsely claimed that Margaret Woddrope, here treated, was the daughter of Gilbert Woddrope, Cordiner in Glasgow and his second wife Margaret Kincaid This is impossible. Margaret Kincaid was booked to marry Gilbert Woddrope on 31 March 1611 and died in June 1622, and Margaret Woddrope, here treated, had her first child in 1614. MyHeritage

Marriage
Margaret Woddrope married Ninian Gilhagie, merchant, burgess and guild brother of Glasgow [National Archives of Scotland, H. M. General Register House, Edinburgh, Commissary Records of Glasgow, Register of Testaments, The Testament Testamentar of Ninian Gilhagie, Merchant in Glasgow, which was confirmed on 11 March 1641, reference CC9/7/28 ff. 418-21]. The date of the marriage is not known but their first child was probably born in 1614 and it seems reasonably safe to conclude, therefore, that they may have married in 1613. It should be noted, however, that Ninian Gilhagie's first wife died on 8 February 1611 and it is not impossible that he and his second wife may have married in 1611 or 1612.
The Death of Her Husband
Margaret Woddrope's husband Ninian Gilhagie died in January 1641. When he made his last will and testament on 4 January 1641 he appointed Margaret Woddrope his "weilbelovit spouse" to be his only executor and intomitter with his goods and gear. She gave up the inventory of his moveable estate and the Commissary of Glasgow granted confirmation to her on 11 March 1641. National Archives of Scotland, H. M. General Register House, Edinburgh, Commissary Records of Glasgow, Register of Testaments, The Testament Testamentar of Ninian Gilhagie, Merchant in Glasgow, which was confirmed on 11 March 1641, reference CC9/7/28 ff. 418-21]
