About Margaret Rose Beames
Margaret Beames was a children's author whose imaginative narratives drew young readers into worlds of drama and suspense. A prolific writer, Beames published forty books for children since her first, The Greenstone Summer, in 1977. Several titles were published in Australia and the UK. She won the Picture Book and Children's Choice categories at the 2001 New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards, and, since 1987, was a finalist several times in the same awards. BEAMES, Margaret Rose: Of Feilding. On February 9, 2016 peacefully at home surrounded by her family, aged 80 years. Dearly loved wife of Bryan. Much loved mother of Janet, Chris, and Joanna. Treasured Nana of Alice, Willem, and Oliver; Matthew, Kylie, and John. Great-Nan of Sophie, Tyler, and Isla. Margaret will be dearly missed and remembered as a well respected author of 41 books. A service for Margaret will be held at William Cotton & Sons Funeral Chapel, 29 Beattie Street, Feilding on Monday February 15, 2016, at 11am followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to Arohanui Hospice, P.O. Box 5349, Palmerston North 4441 would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
