Aaron Quimby was born July 22, 1733, in Kingston, New Hampshire, a son of William Quimby and Martha (Eastman) Quimby. During the French and Indian War, Aaron was in Colonel Joseph Blanchard's regiment in the Crown Point expedition of 1755. During the American Revolutionary War, Aaron was a Captain of the Fourth Company raised in Weare, Hillsborough county, New Hampshire. Captain Quimby served in Colonel Moses Kelly's regiment. [1]

Biography

Captain Quimby is recognized by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Their records indicate that he was twice married, to 1) Anne Hadley and 2) Mary Johnson. Applications for membership in the Society have been submitted by descendants of his sons, Johnson D. Quimby, who married Mary Collins; Moses Quimby, who married Dolly Atkins, Dr. Samuel Quimby, who married Lydia Currier; Enoch Quimby, who married Sarah Libby; Joseph Quimby, who married Molly Colby; and Daniel Quimby, who married Dolly Burleigh.

About 1779, Aaron moved from Weare to Sandwich, New Hamphire, a part of Strafford county. (Now Carroll county) There, he bought 400 acres on Rock Maple Ridge, which he paid for with Continental scrip. According to DAR records, Aaron died in North Sandwich, in December, 1809, however his headstone and his Find A Grave memorial indicate that the year of his death is 1810. [2]
