DAR Application 770429 - Mordecai Amos enlisted in Sept or Oct 1777 and served three months as 2nd Lt. under Capt. Thomas Hutchins in the 8th Battalion of Militia. In the spring of 1778, he again served three months in the same capacity under Capt. Benjamin Amos, Cols. James McComas and Hollingsworth. He was pensioned for service.

His death occurred between 1840 and 1842.

He is buried in Row 18, Grave 7, Conotton Cemetery, Conotton, Harrison County, Ohio.

"ANOTHER REVOLUTIONARY PATRIOT GONE - In Perry Township, Carroll county, Ohio, on the 18th ult., MORDECAI AMOS, in his 94th year. Thus are the few remaining sages and heroes of the Revolution, one by one, dropping into the grave. The whole number remaining here below, will soon have passed to their eternal rest - 'that house not made with hands.'"
