Lepa Radic, 17, A member of Yugoslav Partisans . Hung on 8 February 1943 for taking arms against the Nazis. A Nazi officer offered to save her life if she revealed the names of the resistance movement , she said calmly: “my comrades will give their names when they avenge my death."
During the Neretva battle in February 1943, Lepa Radic was responsible for transporting the wounded to the shelter in Grmec. During the battle against the 7th Division of the SS while organizing a rescue of some 150 women and children seeking refuge from the Axis. She attempted to protect her charges by firing at the attacking Nazi SS forces with a barrage of her remaining ammunition.

. After three days of abuse, the Germans had prepared the gallows between the tunnel and the train station in Bosanska Krupa. Lepa was sentenced to death by hanging.
Her hands were tied with telephone cables, she wore no shoes, just woolen socks.
Standing noosed on the box, Lepa tried to address the trapped people who tried to escape, until the noose interrupted her last words. On February 11, 1943, SS Colonel Šmithuber received from his subordinates a report on the execution:
By decree of Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito on December 20, 1951,Lepa Radic was awarded the title of People’s Hero of Yugoslavia.
