Originally, it was one plot, but after she divorced her husband William Henry Brodnax Sr, a wall was added to separate the two sections. She was very good with numbers and could do math off the top of her head. After her divorce, she and her mother Dora Lee Harris moved to Pennsylvania, which is where they both eventually passed away. There, she married and lived with her second husband, John Jabbour. She was originally to be buried on top of her second husband (stacked grave). The hole even having been dug already, but instead was collected and transported via train in a wooden shipping crate by her only child, Billy Brodnax Jr, back to Stone Mountain Cemetery in Georgia. Her grave has slightly sunken over the years, because it was in this very shipping crate that she was buried in (as opposed to a concrete vault). Her son Billy Jr (buried in the same cemetery) is said to have been angry with her at the time. It can be assumed this is also why she has such a simple grave marker whilst other family beside her have large and ornate ones.

Her second husband's grave stone in Pennsylvania had already been engraved with her name (as "Lena Jabbour") and lists her birth year as "1916", this is is because for all and intents and purposes she started using 1916 as her birth year after her move. The stone in Stone Mountain lists her birth year correctly as 1906 and lists her name as "Lena M. Brodnax". Often wrote her name as "Lena May" instead of birthname "Lena Mary". Family claims that she thought "Mary" sounded boring so she dropped the 'r'.
