Kalman Joseph Kohn-Bistritz

Kalman Frankl-Kohn is sometimes listed as "Kalman Joseph Kohn" [Kalman, son of Joseph] to differentiate him from an older cousin by the same name. He was born in Vag Besztercze, but, as a young man, went to his parents' birthplace of Prossnitz, Moravia [now Prostejov, Czech Republic], likely to seek employment. He was accompanied by his twin brother, Ascher Kohn-Bistritz. As "Kalman Bistritz", age 22, he was married in Prossnitz, 28 October 1802, to Adel Lazar (1784-1849), daughter of Jacob and Rosel Lazar. The marriage was witnessed by Adel's father, Jacob Lazar, and Kalman's brother, Ascher ["Ascher Bistriz"].

Kalman Kohn lived his entire life in Vag Besztercze, Trencin Co., Hungary, where he worked as a magistrate in the Vag Besztercze pension office. As an adult, he and his family are seen in the following census records:

Kalman Kohn was still alive in 1834, but, by 1837, was deceased. This is proven by the fact that two grandsons born in 1837 - Kalman Milch and Kalman Frankl-Kohn - were named in his honor. Kalman Kohn was in his mid-50s at the time of his death, and likely died of a heart attack.
