Cyrus Griffin was the last president of the Continental Congress.
Griffin was engaged in the private practice of law in Lancaster, Virginia from 1774 to 1777. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates and a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1778 to 1781, and again from 1787 to 1788, serving as an appeals court judge in the interim. He served as President of Congress from January to November 1788. He resigned after the ratification of the United States Constitution rendered the old Congress obsolete. He was later a United States federal judge.
Cyrus Griffin was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Virginia. He was nominated by President George Washington on February 8, 1790. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 10, 1790 and received commission that same day. He served until his death on December 14, 1810.
