Three different men: 1) John Lamb, of Maine & New London, 2) John Lamb of Braintree, and 3) John Lamb, of Springfield (this profile). He was the son of Thomas Lamb and his wife Elizabeth, married 1) Joanna 3) Lydia Wright.


Note: John Lamb was baptized in Barnardiston, England on April 20,1628 and died on September 29, 1690 in Springfield, Massachusetts. John settled in Springfield Jan 1651, was a wheelwright and an East Indies trader. May have been at NewLondon Connecticut, 1664-69, and at Kittery, Maine, 1655-56. [NO: that was John Lamb, of Maine & New London] On May 27, 1852 he received 19 pounds 13 shillings in full of his share in the estate of his father, Thomas Lambe of Roxbury. John held the following positions in Springfield: fence viewer 1653 &1666, surveyor of highways 1662, & sealer of weights and measures. He had the fifth seat in the Church in 1663. Signed petition against imposts 1668. Served as Sergeant, Westfield garrison, Aug 1676 (King Philip's War). Took oath of allegiance31 Dec 1678, Springfield. On 27 May 1652 "John Lamb of Springfield, wheelwright, son of Thomas Lamb late of Roxbury deceased," acknowledged receipt of his share of his father's estate from "Thomas Halley of Roxbury my father-in-law."

Emigrated from England to America, before 1654, and settled at Kettery, on the Piscatagen River, York County (extreme southern part) of Maine. It is a tradition of the family that he was driven from his home by Indian depredation in 1663. And Moved to New London, Connecticut, in that part later designated as Groton. He had a Mill on the Mystic River, in CT, He married and had children.
