John Keeshan

John Keeshan was born in Ireland in c.1826 and emigrated to the United States, settling in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He married (1) Hannah Corrigan, another Irish immigrant, and had four children. He married (2) Mary Cassidy and had two sons. He was a druggist by trade. He died before 1920, as he does not appear on that census, and Margaret lists herself as widowed.

John Keashan appears in the 1870 US Census for Cincinnati, Ohio, listed as a 41 year old male, born in Ireland. He listed his occupation as druggist. Also in the household are his wife Hannah, age 35, born in Ireland, keeping house; son John V., age 12, born in Ohio, a student; daughter Bertha, age 5, born in Ohio; son Joseph, age 3, born in Ohio; daughter Alice, age 1, born in Ohio; Elizabeth Carrigan, age 50, born in Ireland; Bridget McLaughlin, age 20, a servant, born in Ireland; and Anna Smith, age 17, born in Ohio.

John Keeshan appears in the 1880 US Census for Cincinnati, Ohio, listed as a 54 year old male, born in Ireland. He listed his occupation as druggist and his marital status as widowed. Both parents were born in Ireland. Also in the household are his son, John P., age 21, born in Ohio, and working as a physician; daughter Bertha, age 16, born in Ohio; son Joseph, age 13, born in Ohio, a student; daughter Alice, age 11, born in Ohio, a student; sister-in-law Elizabeth Carrigan; and servants Mary Kelly, Mary Timon, and Frederick Kochne.

John Keeshan appears in the 1900 US Census for Cincinnati, who stated he didn't remember in what year he was born, that he was born in Ireland and both his parents were born in Ireland. He still listed his profession as druggist. He is living with his wife Margaret, born April, 1869 in Ohio. Her father was born in Ireland and her mother was born in Ohio. Also in the household are his son Paul, born in Ohio in October, 1895; his son Lawrence, born in Ohio in March, 1899; his mother-in-law Catherine Cassidy, born in Ohio in September 1839; his brother-in-law Fred Cassidy, born in Kentucky in September, 1875, and who worked as a clerk; and two servants, Ella and Myrtle Lewis, both born in Kentucky.
