JOHN GADD, a tall powerful young man, was indicted for robbery, accompanied with personal violence, on Henry Hart, a farmer, residing in a place called Ashe, in the lower part of the county.
[Assaulted him and stole his watch while in company with Young, also sentenced and convicted]
Gadd absconded from custody and was recaptured at Margate on 25th ult where he was working in a brick field. etc etc
The jury, after a short deliberation, returned a verdict of guilty, and the prisoner was sentenced to be transported for fifteen years.

A man named John Gadd, who was advertised in the Hue and Cry of 17th February last, charged with committing highway robbery at Farnham, in Surrey, was brought before the Margate Bench on Friday se'night and remanded; he did not deny that he was the person advertised, and on Monday a person came down from London who identified him. This is the fourth case from the Hue and Cry taken by the Margate police in 6 months etc etc.

On Friday last, John Gadd was brought before J.T.Pratt, Esq., by Inspetor Marchant, as being the man described in the Hue and Cry of 17th february last, charged with committing a highway robbery near farnham, Surrey. The prisoner was apprehended near Canterbury by police constables Solly and Crump. He denied being the man, but was committed for re-examination for a week, and on Monday was brought before the Rev. F. Barrow, and identified by the High Constable of Farnham, who stated he had been concerned in a great number of robberies in that neighbourhood. He was delivered up to the Surrey authorities. There was an award of L15 offered for his apprehension. etc etc.
