About Jane Pipe

Jane Gittons married (1) Oliver Lovibond of London, England. She married (2)Henry Becher, on 16 May 1566 at St Christopher-Le-Stocks, London. She was Henry Becher's second wife. No known children, but she remembered her Becher step-children in her will. She married (3) Sir Richard Pipe, a draper and Alderman of London on the 9th August 1571 at St John at Hampstead, Middlesex. Jane died in 1588 in Nottingham,Sir Richard Pipe having predeceased her in 1587.

Jane left a detailed will & in it, asked to be buried in the parish church at Barlborough, Derbyshire, where Sir Richard Pipe had been buried.

Queen of England france and Ireland defender of the faithe, I Jane Pype of Wallingewells in
The countie of Nottingham widow, late wife of Sir Richard Pipe, Knight, beinge sick in bodye, butt wholl in
Mynde and of perfect remembrance make this my Last will and testament in manner and forme followinge first
I willingly yealde my soule into the handes of almighty god belevinge assuredly to be saved by his mercie in
Jesus Christ whom I doe acknowledge my only mediator and redeemer And I will that my body be buried in
The parish church of Barleboroughe in the certyne hope of resurrection to eternal life etc
I doe give to every of my sister three sisters Margarett Katherin and Dorothie tenne pounds And I give to my brother
Edward tenne pounds And to my brother Robert twentie pounds and to his wife a golde ringe of fiftie shillings
value Moreover I give to Dorothie Owen my maide one hundred pounds of Englishe money And to
Marie Owen my sisters daughter five poundes. I give to Katherin Corke a neaste of silver bowles guilte
And to every one of her children fortie shillings. I give to Joane France my maide twenty marke And to
every servant in the house one wholl yeares wage Also I doe bequeath to my [step] sonne Humphrey Pipe and to his sonne
Richard Pipe twoe silvery potte four silver percell guilte And I give to my [step] sonne Richard Pipe a dosen of
silver spoones guilte And to my [step] sonne Sammuel Pipe I give a duble silver cupp guilte Also I give to my daughter Susan
Pipe my jewell whiche hathe the picture of the mermaide And to my daughter Smithe a gowlde ringe of
Fiftie shillinge value And to my daughter Chamberlaine one other gowle ringe of the live value of fiftie shillinge
And to my daughter Kelke [Stepdaughter Elizabeth Becher, now married to Clement Kelke] a portague and a piece of gowlde of thirtie shillings Also I give to my coosen Margaret
Jones a gowlde ringe of fortie shillinge And to Mr Burke the person [parson] of Carleton a gowld ringe to the live value
of fortie shillings furthermore I give to my [step] son Henry Beecher [sic Becher] a bason and ewer of silver which his
father gave me And I give to my [step] son Edward Beecher [sic Becher] a gowlde ring to the value of fiftie shillinge I give to
my sister gittins of Bristowe and to her children a portague I give to Giles Owen five pounds I give to Mr Brian
Hassell a gowlde ringe of fiftie shillings value And to his wife an other gowlde ringe of the like value of fiftie
Shillings hastly I doe make Mr Franklin of the Kache my full and sole executor of this my las will and testament
And I doe give him for his paines five poundes And if he does refuse to be my executor and to administer
acordinge to this my last will and testament, then I will that Mr Robert Waterhouse of Hartill shalbe my full
and sole executor And that he shall have for his pains five pounds . In witness wherefore I have hereto my hand
to this presente given the daye and yeare first above written in the presence of Samuel Burk Margarett
Jones and Susan Pipe. By me Jane Pipe.
