About Jane Scott Fannin
Many online sources put Jane Lockhart Fannin's birth year at about 1769, her marriage at 1777, and birth of her first child in 1779. This cannot be correct; she would be far too young. One theory is that her birth year is more like 1759. Another theory, based upon research chronicled here, is that Jane was actually David Fannin's second wife and the mother of his younger children.
According to varying rootsweb entries Jane Scott Lockhart was born some time around 1760 to Andrew Lockhart and Mary Jane Campbell both of Virginia. Jane married David Fannin / Fanning also of Virginia. They were the parents of 11 children. Jane passed away in 1811 and is said to be buried near her family in the Mount Eden Cemetery in Floyd County, Indiana
