About Henry Gregson of Turnditch
Not the father of Thomas Gregson, of New Haven
Henrie / Henry Gregson
- Gender: Male
- Christening Date: 27 Mar 1583 Christening Place: Sutton-on-the-Hill, Derbyshire, England
- Son of Thomas Gregson and Alice (Merry) Gregson
Henry married twice. First, probably before 1605, Millisant _____ (son Phillip baptized 28 June 1605),[3] who must have died soon after her son's baptism.
Henry married (2) Idith (Edith) Allestree. She was probably born about 1588 (would have been age 18 at this, presumed her first marriage), died after 1635, the daughter of George Allestree and his wife Ideth (Edith).[4]
Disputed associations
Henry Gregson and his wife Edith had a son, Thomas Gregson, baptized Debryshire, England, 14 July 1611, but their son was not the Thomas who immigrated to New England. Henry and Edith's son Thomas died in London in 1664. See this post on the 2022 G2G, "Proposal to update parentage of Thomas Gregson, founder of New Haven (PGM)." <link>
