About Helen Lillian McGlashan
Forced to leave her home in Akutan with her family on 18 August, 1942, on only a few hours notice, she arrived at the Ward Lake Interment Camp in Ketchikan, Alaska on 24 August 1942, where she resided until 17 April 1946.
Obituary for Lillian Pelkey Lillian Pelkey, 83, of Port Orchard died March 29, 2012 at the Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma of cancer. She was born July 25, 1928 in Akutan, Alaska to Hugh and Matrona(Anderson) McGlashan. She was reared and educated in Akutan and Ketchikan, Alaska. She owned and operated a bar in Akutan and was a mother and homemaker. Lillian enjoyed watching the cooking channel, was well known for her Russian/Aleute fish pie & enjoyed the comments of those who ate it. She also loved her three kitties, especially Baby Bee. She absolutely loved all of the new great grand babies being born and enjoyed shopping, especially for baby clothes. Preceded in death by her son Neil, daughter Deborah, grandson Christopher and best friend Ivy Frank. Survived by: sons Darryl (Polly) of Akutan, AK, Bob (Margo) of Ketchikan, AK, Hugh of Akutan, AK, Ralph (Ingrid) of Port Orchard, daughter, Mellina (Michael) of Port Orchard, brother, Steve of Anchorage, AK, Sister Faye Schlais of Ketchikan, AK, 10 grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Tues. April 3, 2012 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, WA. Burial at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Online memorial at www.rill.com.
