About Hannah Day

  • From Anderson's "Great Migration" Project (doc attached)

Robert Day apparently came to New England without a wife, that he was married by about 1638, and that Moses Pengry and his brother apparently came to New England about 1640, suggesting that Robert Day had married a woman from an Ipswich family other than Pengry. In the absence of further evidence, we remain agnostic on the identity of the wife of Robert Day.

Notes

  • Some say Pengry, but others explain that references to "brother" between Moses Pengry and Robert Day is not strong enough proof and could be that at this time men whose children married each other were often called brothers. [1, 2]     Hannah _____, was who was living in Ipswich on 19 March 1663[/4] [ILR 4:439], but deceased before 18 December 1684 [ELR 7:13].  Married by 1638 in Ipswich MA to Robert Day (1605-1683)
