Gustave William Schultheis

Remarks Tobias: In the MyHeritage tree of John Stettner he is listed as Gustave Wilhelm Schulthies and his birthdate 1840 in Mariaborn, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany. Since Mariaborn was only a Fort of the Fortress of Mainz, I don't think that he was really born on this place. It's possible that his correct birthplace was Marienborn (today a district of Mainz). Unfortunately I have no access to the original document in the United States to decide if Marienborn was his birthplace or his last residence in Germany before he emigrated to Unitet States.

Schulthies is not a really known name in Germany, but the name Schultheis is well known here so it's possible that the family name orginally was Schultheis.

United States Census 1870 listed a Gustav Schultheis born between 1839-1840 in Germany with his wife Katharina born between 1839-1840 in New York:
