Biography

Ephraim Kempton was born November 14, 1674, the son of Ephraim Kempton and and Mary Reeves of Salem, Essex, Massachusetts[1] [2] [3]

On June 2, 1702, he married Patience Faunce of Plymouth[4] [5], and their children included[6] [7]:

Ephraim, born February 9, 1702 [7][8], who died in 1720. Note he is not Ephraim Kempton who married Abigail Bolster, as is shown in many family trees. The sources noted here all point to him as the son of John and Sarah Chantrell, and confirm he is correctly placed in WikiTree[3] Thomas, born February 20, 1704[7][9], who was baptized on September 24, 1721[6], who married Esther Throop in 1730, and then married Mary Hathaway in 1734, and then married Phebe Price in 1758[3] William, born August 3, 1707 [7] [10] who was baptized on September 24, 1721[6], who married Mary Brewster in 1731[3] Joanna, born July 22, 1710 [7] [11], who was baptized on September 24, 1721[6], who married Joshua Drew in 1733[3] The family moved to Dartmouth, Bristol Massachusetts, where Ephraim died in December 1758. Ephraim's will was dated November 7, 1758[12].

In contrast, his will was dated 6 February 1749 and probated 7 November 1758. It mentioned his wife Patience; Sons: Thomas (executor) and William; daughter Joanna Drew, and grandson, William Kempton. A codicil dated 10 March 1749 left to his daughter, Joanna Drew, "wood land at Billington Sea in Plymouth, Co. of Plymouth."[13]

Ephraim's parents are Ephraim and Mary (Reeves) Kempton.

The family assumes Ephraim is buried in the Acushnet Cemetery along side his wife Patience (Faunce) Kempton but we need to investigate this further. He is either there or somewhere in Salem, MA.

His family is documented in the book called:

- The Kempton/Kimpton Families in North America by Morton Saunders
