Biography
When Eldad Kingsley was born in 1638 at Dorchester in the Massachusetts Bay Colony,[1] his father, John, was 24 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 25. He was baptized at the First Church in Dorchester that year.[2]
He married Mehitabel Mowry on May 9, 1662, in Providence, Rhode Island. They had seven children in 16 years. He died on August 30, 1679, in Swansea, Massachusetts, at the age of 41.
Eldad was one of seven men united in "solemn covenant" to form the first Baptist church in the Plymouth Colony under the leadership of John Myles_(minister). Colony officials reacted by fining the members and advising them to leave Rehoboth.[3]
